Radio Amateur operation from the the Mekong Delta
Our Bed and Breakfast and the Sóc Trăng farm have HAM Radio frequency transmission permit with the XV4Y callsign. Once you have obtain an operating agreement or even your own license and callsign from the VARC, you can activate this two sites easily if you have an HAREC certificate obtained in another country.
Obtaining a Radio transmission permit is quite easy, not expensive and fast (around 1 month) in Vietnam. The authorization duration will depend on your visa expiration date. The cost vary following the bands you want to use.
At the B&B location, you will be able to use the XV4Y shack gear (Yaesu FT-100, ground plane for 20m, 17m and 15m, delta-loop on 40 meters). At the farm location, you will have to bring your own station, but you will then enjoy much more room for your antennas installation. The surroundings being in a wet terrain, it helps to improve the strengh of radio transmissions.
